After two seperate collisions today, the western highway is fully re-opened
The Western Highway has been re-opened on both sides of Ararat, following two separate collisions earlier today.
VicRoads thanks drivers for their patience during this disruption.
Police have completed their investigations of both incidents - the first from 6.30 this morning where a car hit a tree and a male occupant died at the scene and the second before lunch involving several cars with a man and a woman taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Another man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Its alleged two vehicles were traveling west in back to back traffic when a third car came over a slight rise and collided with those two vehicles causing a nose-to-tail collision.
Following that, the third vehicle then veered onto the incorrect side of the highway and crashed into an oncoming east-bound car.
Emergency services also attended to an incident at Warrayatkin Road, off the Pyrenees Highway - where an adult and two children were lucky to escape uninjured when they care they were traveling in hit a tree.
